Our History

Datility Networks began providing hosting in 2001

Jason Klein founded Datility Networks and began offering managed hosting services in early 2001 to help several Wichita Kansas companies benefit from economies of scale that came from sharing specialized IT staff and IT infrastructure required to manage and host their servers.

Datility began in the “Sunflower Hatchery” in Newton Kansas. The hatchery building had been renovated by Janzen Computer Consulting (acquired by IKON Office Solutions) to include a board room that overlooked 17th and Main, a dozen private offices, a small computer equipment room, and a warehouse area. More importantly, the building had a dedicated indoor Southwestern Bell (now AT&T) terminal with a direct connection to the Central Office which allowed “high speed” connectivity over multiple bonded T1 internet connections.

Datility quickly outgrew the small equipment space and renovated the warehouse area into a make-shift data center. Within a few years, bandwidth costs became an issue and forced Datility to begin colocating equipment at ISP offices and the Layer 3 data center in Wichita Kansas.

As Datility continued to grow, hosting operations were moved to a data center in San Antonio TX and later expanded to a second data center in Herndon VA to keep ever increasing bandwidth and server costs under control.

Today, Datility hosts all operations through multiple data centers at Amazon Web Services and embraces a remote work environment. While we rely on AWS to handle basic infrastructure, our midwest-based team is responsible for all customer service, as well as monitoring and management of our hosting servers.
